Biography

A born and raised burqueño, Samuel Shoemaker-Trejo entered the world of acting through his high school education at the Albuquerque Academy. He performed in his first musical there and, soon after, his appetite for all things creative quickly grew. While his love of acting remained, he also quickly tested new frontiers in the arts of directing, playwriting, and a capella.

As time passed, Samuel’s interests only grew and matured. He thrived among the artists of the University of New Mexico, where he attended college. There, he took interest in slam poetry, screenwriting, and short story writing. He directed his first full-scale production, A Bench at the Edge, by Luigi Jannuzzi, through the UNM Department of Theatre and Dance. He also performed in some of his first professional acting gigs through Fusion Theatre Company, including Disgraced, by Ayad Akhtar.

Samuel went on to pursue his original love of acting through such roles as the Groom in Blood Wedding, by Federico García Lorca, and Sir Peter Teazle in The School for Scandal, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. After his graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and a minor in Theatre (Summa cum Laude), he moved to Winter Garden, Florida.

Samuel now resides in a warm home in Davenport, Florida with his incredible wife, Vanessa and his ornery cat, Merlin. There, he narrates audiobooks, writes plays, and practices yoyo tricks. Some of his favorite activities include trying new foods, playing games of all varieties, and reading fantasy books. He thanks his wife, family, friends, mentors, and audience for their constant support along his road.
